And if you are blown away by reviews of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, Resistance 3, Rage, Infamous 3, LittleBigPlanet 2, Batman: Arkham City, then the thinking can stop right now. The console for you is Playstation 3.
If, however, you are waiting 'with breathe that is bated' (sorry -
girlie SATC reference there!) for Gears of War 3, XCOM, Forza 4, Project
Draco, what you want is Xbox 360.
And if you feel you must have any of these: Chime, Snoopy Flying Ace, Toy Soldiers, Viva Pinata, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Crackdown 2 in your life, then you want - nay - NEED to get Xbox 360.

Online, do you want to hook up with your friends and play? If yes, then you'll want to go with the gaming console that the majority of your friends already have.
If you are going to play with strangers online, you can choose either console. And a couple of things to note:
1) With Xbox, at present, there are about four times as many players signed up as are with Playstation. However, we are talking BIG numbers for both systems! I don't think you'll get lonely online with either.
2) To play online games with Xbox 360, you have to pay for membership to Xbox Live.
3) To play online games with Playstation3, you subscribe to PlayStation®Network which is free.
