How to put YouTube videos on your PSP

Everybody loves YouTube.com. It has examples of everything you'd want to watch, from Lonelygirls to football goals, old men complaining to Goths crying. The only trouble is our lack of time. If only we could catch up with everyone else by watching that funny bad advert from the '80s while commuting to work. If only there was some way...

Go to YouTube and pick the video you want to convert. We chose a video about blenders, as it was the top rated clip the day we looked. Go up to the address bar, click it, and Ctrl-C to copy the video's address.

Go to YouTubeX.com. Paste your video's address into the main box and click Get Video. Click Download and save your video to the desktop.

Right click your newly downloaded video and change the name from get_video to get_video.flv. You may be asked if you're sure you want to change the file extension, in which case you should reply that you are.

Go to TVC's homepage and click Free Download. Save the file to the desktop, then double click it and follow the installation instructions.

Run the Total Video Converter programme. Click on get_video.flv and hold the left mouse button down. Drag the video into TVC's Track List Window. On the screen that pops up choose PSP Mpeg4. Click Convert Now and wait while it does its thing.

Now all you have to do is put the converted video on your PSP. Follow the guides here to do just that and you're away.

How to fix stuck pixels on your PSP screen

Nearly all of our PSPs have had at least one stuck pixel. They're the ones that always stay red, green or blue, whatever the rest of the screen is displaying. And they are really, really annoying. Follow this guide for an easy fix that works in the majority of cases. If it doesn't work for you, we're sorry – and as ever, it's your decision whether you want to give it a go or not. We cannot be held responsible for any results.

Go to PSP-Vault and click on 'Here is Version 2 of The Video'. When prompted, save it to your desktop.

Connect your PSP to your computer with a USB cable. Turn on your PSP, scroll all the way left on the home screen and press 'up' or 'down' on the D-pad to select USB Connection. Press 'X'.

Open My Computer on your PC, then double-click Removable Drive. Open the MP_Root folder then open 100MNV01.
Back on the desktop, double click the .zip file you downloaded earlier to open it. Right-click on the file named M4V56052.MP4 and select Copy. Navigate back to the folder 100MNV01, right-click and select Paste.

Press 'Circle' on your PSP to exit USB mode. Scroll right to Video and select Memory Stick. Press 'X' then scroll up or down to select RGB3. Press 'X'.

Press 'Triangle'. Select Display from the top row and choose the middle icon.

Press 'X' until the bottom left of the screen shows Full Screen. On the bottom row select the middle icon and press 'X' to put the video into repeat mode.

Finally, in the middle row, press play then press 'Triangle'.

Leave it running for a good while – many people have reported it took them a few hours to get results. You can check if it's worked when the screen fades black and white at the end of the loop.

HOW TO CONVERT AND WATCH A DVD ON YOUR PSP, iPOD,iPHONE !!!

Would you like to be able to watch a DVD on your iPod, PSP or mobile phone without doing anything very technical and for free? Movie2X DVD Ripper is a simple to use DVD conversion program that allows you to convert a regular or protected DVD into the most popular video formats, such as AVI, MP4, PSP and more.

It also lets you convert between formats, i.e. AVI to MP4, MOV to MPG, etc.

The software supports the iPod, PSP, Mobile Phone, Archos, Microsoft Zune, and Creative Zen formats.

The interface is easy for beginners, but has lots of options and preferences for advanced users also, such as the bit rate, frame rate, sample rate, etc. It also supports other formats such as xVid, DIVx, and H263 (high-definition).

I really like this program because it supports some of the more advanced features of DVD’s, such as the higher quality audio codecs, subtitles, and different angles.

It also includes a DVD/Video player to preview files. You can also change the video aspect, so if the DVD is wide screen, but you’re going to watch it on your iPod, you can convert the DVD into the regular 4:3 aspect ratio.

Also, converting a full DVD might be become too large for your mobile device, so you have two options, either convert only a portion of the film or split the outputted file into multiple files.

You can also take out the audio and video separately since the streams are processed individually. There are also other cool features like the ability to offset the subtitles or change the color of the subtitles.

Once you’ve installed the software, simply pop in your DVD, and either go to File and choose Add DVD, or click on the DVD button underneath the white text box.

The program will read the DVD and display the title and chapter information. You can choose which titles you want to convert. This is good because you can uncheck all of the really short chapters, which are probably previews or interviews, etc.

Next, you want to choose the “Profile” or what you want the DVD to be converted into. You can also choose the zoom options: Keep Aspect, Medium, Letterbox, and Pan and Scan. Type in a name for your file and if you want to split the files, you can choose from 650 MB, 700 MB, 800 MB CD, 4.7 GB DVD, or a custom size.

Choose the output folder and click Convert! The amount of time it takes to convert will depend on what files type you are converting to and the speed of your computer’s processor. Make sure you have enough free space on the destination drive before converting.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD YOUTUBE VIDEOS AND WATCH ON YOUR iPod, PSP or mobile phone !!!

Do you watch YouTube videos? Do you wish you could somehow save these video’s to watch at your leisure or share with others?

Do you want to download these YouTube clips to your iPod, PSP or mobile phone? Yes?

Well up until recently, to download a YouTube video you needed a ‘paid for’ software package. Now there is a freeware converter tool readily available for download that does just the job.

It is called the Free YouTube to iPod Converter and it does all this for you in 3 quick and easy steps;

1) Launch an Internet browser session for YouTube and navigate to the video clip you want. Copy the URL link address of the video.

2) Launch Free YouTube to iPod Converter and paste the URL link address of the video file into the ‘Input video file or YouTube URL containing video’ field.

3) Choose the destination location for the ‘Output file’ to be created and click ‘Download & Convert’. That’s it! The video will be converted.

The input URL picks up the location of the video on YouTube, the converter software then picks up the FLV formatted YouTube file, downloads it to specified output file and converts it to the required MP4 format.

It is then a case of just locating the file on your computer and dragging/dropping it into your media device. The whole process only takes a couple of minutes, even to download the longest YouTube clips and you will have MP4 format video ready for uploading to your media device or mobile phone.

You can change the settings for the download so that the conversion is in iPod, PSP, mobile phone or MP3 audio format, and there are 4 presets to set the quality of the video – Highest, High, Standard and Economy.

In my experience I always use the Highest or High settings. Even if you are so short of memory that you are thinking of reverting back to floppy’s, you still will not need to reduce the quality of your download to Standard or Economy as the files are never that big. For information, the default setting is for iPod conversion.

Note: This program is Freeware and contains no Spyware or Adware.

HOW TO CONVERT YOUR VIDEO FILES AND PLAY VIDEO FILES WITH YOUR PSP !!!

You have a new shiny slim PSP and you have a bunch of movies that you want to watch on it.

Now the question we need to solve is how are we going to play our video files with a PSP? With the freeware PSP Video Converter you can convert VOB, IFO, DAT, MOV, AVI, MPEG, MPEG4, 3GPP, 3GPP2, WMV, ASF video formats to PSP.

If you don’t have it yet, download it and install on your computer.

Open PSP Video Converter, click Add to choose the movie file you want to convert and click Open.

You should see the file under the list of File Name area. Then, choose which type of output format you want to create. In this example just choose the default PSP Normal Quality which is a 480 by 272 pixel mp4 format file.

One rule of thumb when choosing which format to use is that the higher the quality the higher the number of pixels and the higher the file size.

Put into consideration that a wide screen quality movie with 640 X 480 takes more disk space than a 480 X 272 movie.

If you want higher definition and you can afford the space, go for a wide screen format.

After that, click the Convert button to start converting your file:

There are a couple of things worth looking at here. First is the Output Directory which defaults to C:\Program Files\PSP Video Converter\Videos – this is where your converted video files will be saved after the conversion.

The Progress value indicates how much of the video is already converted.

After you are done, move the output mp4 file into your PSP memory stick.

Attach your PSP to your computer via the USB port or get the memory stick and plug it in your memory card reader. Depending on your PSP version, you will put the file on the VIDEO folder of PSP/VIDEO folder.

To check what version your PSP has follow this simple steps:

1. Open your PSP and go to the setting tab

2. Move down until you get to the system settings

3. Hit X button, then move down to the system information (this should show the firmware version)

Now to play the video, just disconnect your PSP to your computer’s USB. Power up your PSP, go to the video tab then all of your videos will appear. Choose and enjoy the video and it should play without a problem.

As mentioned, you can convert your existing DVDs and VCDs to the PSP format. Just be patient as it could take a long time to convert movies depending on the size of the movie and the spec of your computer.

HOW TO KNOW MORE ABOUT PSP HOMEBREW AND ELOADER

So you've heard about this homebrew thing that all the cool kids have been doing, but you have already upgraded to version 2.6 of the firmware so that you could play all the latest and greatest games on the PSP.

Fortunately for you, some very diligent hackers have been working round the clock to discover ways to get around the limitations put in place by the latest firmware.

The solution isn't in the form of a downgrader, but rather in the form of an eLoader (EBOOT loader) that lets you use Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories to run homebrew on a PSP with version 2.0, 2.01, 2.5, and 2.6 of the firmware.

Not all homebrew will run via this method, but there is a rather easy to read compatibility chart and I'm sure more things will begin working in future releases of the eLoader.

To help you along in your quest to homebrew, here's a step by step (with pictures!) guide to using the eLoader:

1. Get your hands on a PSP running firmware 2.0-2.6 and a copy of Grand Theft A! uto: Lib erty City Stories.

2. Download and decompress the eLoader [via PSP Updates].

3. Connect your PSP to your computer or mount your Memory Stick on your computer via a card reader.

4. When you open up your Memory Stick on your computer you will see a variety of folders including MP_ROOT and PSP. PSP is the one we will be using.

5. Drag your PSP folder on your Memory Stick to a local hard drive as a backup (it's always good to backup).

6. Open the PSP folder on the Memory Stick.

7. Open up the PSP folder contained in the eLoader folder. You will see two folders: GAME and SAVEDATA.

If you look inside the PSP folder on your Memory Stick, you will see the same two folders. We don't want to replace those folders, but rather add the contents of the two together.

8. Open up the GAME folder of the eLoader and drag the contents of that folder into the GAME folder on your Memory Stick.

9. Open the SAVEDATA folder of the eLoader and drag the contents of that folder over to the SAVEDATA folder on your Memory Stick. If one of the files pops up with a "Replace existing file" or some such error, then this means that you already had a GTA save file in slot 5. Click replace (as you backed up the file in step 5).

10. Unmount the Memory Stick / your PSP.

11. Start up Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. After it loads, select Load Game and choose the ! eLoa der savegame.

12. The eLoader will launch. Use the directional pad to select a homebrew app and hit the X button to attempt launching it.

As noted before, not all homebrew apps currently work, so some will crash your PSP and you will have to restart it. Enjoy your homebrew! Unfortunately, none of the homebrew apps that are my favorites currently run via this exploit (fortunately, I have another PSP rocking firmware version 1.5), so make sure you grab one of the compatible ones before you start this exploit.

As always, this exploit *shouldn't* risk harming your PSP, as it doesn't mess with your firmware at all, however, use at your own risk.Once you are done homebrewing, if you want to play GTA and it keeps autoloading the eLoader, simply delete the eLoader from your Memory Stick.

You can do this from your PSP by hitting the Start button in the eLoader, which Quits the game and returns you to the PSP's game menu. Navigate to the Saved Data Utility, select each of the eLoader GTA beta files (there should be three of them), hit the Triangle button, select Delete from the side menu that pops up, and hit the X button to delete. Do this for each of the files.

PSP Blender - Finally the Truth About PSP Blender...A Seaford

It seems everybody with a PSP has something or other to say about PSP Blender. Some of these people I have to say do not know what their talking about and most of them have never even been members of PSP Blender. Just for the record I am a member of PSP Blender and I am going to give my honest opinion on the service they they offer. This may shock some of you. If you want to join or are thinking about joining this will be the only review you need to read. Other reviewers of PSP Blender (again some who are not even members) skip around the basics of how and what PSP Blender is. This review will tell all. Hold on to your seats, here goes.

So is PSP Blender a scam? I get asked this question a lot and there seems to be lots of talk floating around the Internet about this. What i will say is no it is not a scam and the main reason people get that idea is from people who haven't joined trying to give their opinion. What PSP Blender could do a little better is explain exactly what your $37 is for and how the system works. But believe me it odes work.

So what are the claims of PSP Blender? Well thee site will tell you you will have access to millions of files which will include games, movies, music, themes, backgrounds, software, cheats. They say you will get the full version of these files not demos or teasers but the full working download.

So where do these files come from? This is the part that some people feel should be explained more. PSP Blender has put together a site which puts users in touch with tested and review torrent databases. Basically they have taken all the guess work and time spent searching for reliable and safe downloads. They also provide a way to download popular peer to peer software and installation and user guides. Now I'm not saying you couldn't do all this yourself but its a long and painstaking process and even after spending all that time you might not end up with what you want or you still may get a virus. At least if you leave all the hard work to PSP Blender you get more time to play your games.

PSP Blender has been around a long time and over this time it has developed greatly, I'm pretty sure in the beginning it was pretty hard to justify a membership but now with so many happy members downloading millions of games it really is a great time to get in on the action.

Is PSP Blender legal? Your dam right it is they just show where the stuff is and how to download it what you do with that info is up to you. Just as a word of warning they do not suggest you download copyrighted material and neither do I. PSP Blender basically states it is not responsible for what you choose to do with its database. PSP does not host any illegal or copyrighted material on its servers so it is well within the law.

PSP Blender supports all types of Firmware you may need to carry out an upgrade or downgrade for some files but the good thing about PSP Blender is it has step by step guides to help you with all the technical stuff.

PSP Blender has customer support which is there to be used if you have any problems. what has happened in the past that people ask a question and if they haven't got an answer in 2 minutes of they go to post negative comments in forums and stuff saying we got scammed. That is crazy talk. As PSP Blender has grown the customer service has got a lot better, they will reply to email within 24 hours there are people on the end of the phone if you need them. before you ask PSP Blender is Apple MAC and PC compatible in every country and region.

Money back guarantee. Yes PSP Blender has one and yes it does honor it. PSP Blender takes payment through Clickbank, an online payment processor. Part of their arrangement with Clickbank is to handle refunds. So if your not happy you can get your money back.

So to sum up. me and my friends have been happy to use the services of PSP Blender and have been for quite a while now. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to other friends. If you no what you are getting for your money and your happy with that there is no question you can benefit from PSP Blender. They have done all the hard work for you all you have to do is get on with playing your new games.

PSP Update - It Always Pays To Update Your PSP, Or Doesn't It?...S Andrew

The PSP is an amazing piece of kit, you get great games you play on the move. but are you still carrying around your games on UMD disc's.

Well there is an alternative way to play your games and that is to store them on your memory stick and what that allows you to do is download games to your computer and transfer them straight on to the memory stick.

Ok so where do you start, well first of you need a decent sized memory stick, I would always go for at leastý 1GB but if your strapped for cash a 258MB will do.

Now the next thing you need to look at is the Firmware version of your PSP it needs to be 1.5 or less to play games this way. but there is no need to panic because you can always downgrade your PSP to this Firmware (and by the way it does no harm to your PSP, it just stops the money grabbing game makers from charging you a fortune for games).

So with your Firmware set and a memory card in your PSP all you need to do is download games to your computer (Mac or PC). plug in your PSP to your computer using the mini USB socket and drag and drop games across.

If you are worried about downgrading you PSP there are some helpful tutorials and even the software to download 1000's of games. Just do a google search for 'how to downgrade PSP' and you will soon be able to download games, music, themes, backgrounds and even TV shows.

Right so step by step hers what to do.

Step 1

Copy your PSP game file to the correct path, if you don't do this the games simply will not work. The correct path is PSP>GAME ( all folder names are in capitals)

Step 2

When the PSP games are transfered to your memory stick disconnect the PSP from your computer, then on the PSP in the main menu scroll to GAME and then select memory stick option. Press X and the list of games on the memory stick will be displayed. If you do have any errors I would recheck your Firmware (do not worry its easy to do).

More and more people are downloading games to there computer. For the price of 2 large pizza's you can get access to every PSP game available, but not only that they have all the software you need to downgrade your PSP Firmware should you need to.

Sony PSP - Downloading From ITunes...Lee B

Uploading music, movies and tv shows to your Sony PSP, is now even easier, thanks to Apple ITunes. With ITunes you can now download great entertainment including brand new release DVD's and hot tv shows like Lost, House and Desperate Housewives.

ITunes has just launched the movie and tv download service in the United Kingdom. Music downloads were previously the only type of media files available for the UK market, but with this new service you can now download and then upload brand new releases straight to your PSP. You can also rent movies and tv shows from ITunes, but to keep them and upload the files to your PSP, you must purchase them with prices varying depending on the type of entertainment you purchase.

Uploading the files to your PSP is very easy. With the new 4.01 upgrade for the PSP, it's very easy to transfer media files to the memory stick duo card of your Playstation. The new upgrade changes the folders on the memory stick to simple names like Video, Music and Photos. You simply have to copy and paste the files from your pc folder that contains the ITunes media files, over to the Video folder of your PSP. When you now click on the video folder inside your PSP, the video files will be their. It's also better to change the names of your media files, this will make it easier, when files are transferred to the PSP, it's not possible to change the names.

Please remember that the ITunes program is free, legal, very easy to use, and contains some of the latest release movies music and tv shows. Free Downloadable Playstation Roms - Do They Actually Exist?...Dean O

So you've decided that you want to find free downloadable Playstation ROMS, right? Before you do, you've got some big issues to consider. I want you to think about these issues before you go hunting for your Playstation ROMs. Yes, the do exist, but it isn't as straight forward as you might think!

The Playstation has become a household name and holds the largest share of the home console market. The system continues to sell well despite competition from newer systems such as the Nintendo Wii, the Xbox 360 and the Playstation's newest sibling, the Playstation 3. The price cut on this console means it is very affordable and that is why sales have remained very good.

The first issue to think about is the legal side. I have to tell you that you what you are considering doing really hurts the game industry in the long run. I understand that you may view the Playstation as a dying console system, but many game developers still make new games for this system. Plus the price of most games are dirt cheap right now for this console.

The second item to think about is the fact that to play anything you download, the Playstation has to be "modded" with a special chip that allows you to play these games. Many companies carry this chip and some can even install it for you for a price, but you do have to deal with the fact that you will void your warranty if you go this route.

Third is dealing with the issue of where to locate the free downloadable ROMs. It is a scary place out there in download land and many sites offering up this type of download are on the shady side. It is very, very easy to get infected with viruses and spyware if you go hunting for these you run the chance of hurting your computer.

So be very careful when you decided to try to find free downloadable Playstation roms as it can be quite an effort just to get to the end result.

How to Add an External Hard Drive to a Playstation 3 or Xbox 360...Jim H

Add More Storage to Your Gaming Console With an External Hard Drive

If you have a gaming console that came with a small hard drive or no hard drive at all, then adding an external hard drive is a reasonably quick and simple solution. Sure, you can replace the original hard drives that came in the system with a larger one, but those laptop hard drives can get quite expensive, especially in the larger capacities.

An external hard drive will let you add more storage at a much lower price while at the same time allowing you to control the content yourself. On a system like an Xbox 360, you cannot add content to the built in drive unless it is downloaded from Xbox Live or ripped from a CD. With an external drive, you have full control of your content, and can easily upload or download new content without much trouble.

Choosing Your External Hard Drive

Naturally, you will need a hard drive and an enclosure. Almost any USB external hard drive will work for your purposes. The main difference is if you are looking for portability vs. storage size. If you have some laptop hard drives lying around, then buy a 2.5" laptop hard drive enclosure.
The advantages of using a smaller laptop hard drive are that it will be much smaller and much more portable, and will most likely not require a power supply. However, laptop drives usually pale in capacity compared to regular 3.5" drives of the same price. A 3.5" external hard drive will store much more content but will probably require an extra power port. If your gaming console is usually located in one location and not likely to move around, this type of hard drive might be the best solution.

Formatting Your Hard Drive

Gaming consoles need an external hard drive that is formatted in the FAT32 file system. You can use virtually any hard drive currently sold on the market, as FAT32 can support hard drives up to 2 Terabytes in size. However, the limitation of FAT32 is that it cannot hold individual files larger then 4GB in size. Also, Windows 2000 and XP cannot create or format partitions larger than 32GB. Windows 98 users can only create and partition drives up to 127GB in size. So, in order to create a FAT32 partition and format it above the 32GB or 127GB limitations, you will need a utility like Partition Magic or some other drive/partition utility. I highly recommend CompuApps Swissknife, which can be downloaded for free at download.com for PC users. Mac OSX users can simply open /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app, choose the desired drive, and click on the Erase. Choose 'MS-DOS (FAT)' and then click on the 'Erase' button. You should now have a hard drive formatted in FAT32.

Once your drive is done formatting in FAT32, it's simply a matter of uploading content to your new drive and connecting it to your gaming console. Simply connect your USB cable to an available USB port on the front of your Playstation 3, or the back of your Xbox 360. Your game console should recognize your new device automatically, and allow you to browse your new files on the external hard drive.

Xbox 360 Three Red Lights Cause and Repair...James Philpson

Since its release over two years ago it has been estimated that at least one third of all Xbox 360 consoles will be affected by the red light error problem. Today you are going to learn about Xbox 360 three red lights, causes of it and methods of repair.

So, what has caused the three red lights error on your Xbox 360?

There are two major causes of the "red ring of death" on the Xbox 360. The first one is due to overheating, because of inadequate cooling devices inside the case. Essentially there is too much heat in too small of an area. This problem is exacerbated by the fact that the Xbox 360 is essentially a powerful computer that has been placed in a much smaller case, with far fewer cooling devices such as fans or heatskinks. Most cases of the red light problem appear to be caused by this, however, there is another fairly common reason behind it.

General hardware failures can be caused by problems such as a loose graphics processing unit, processor or memory chips. Unlike the overheating error, this cause of the three red lights problem does not give any prior warning. One day your console can be working fine, the next it can stop functioning completely apart from the ominous red lights on the front of it.

Is it possible to fix the three red lights error?

Yes, and it you can do it without having to purchase a new console or send your current faulty one back to Microsoft, However, you will need to buy an Xbox 360 repair guide in order to determine the exact cause and repair method required in your specific case. They can be found online from a number of websites. Here's what to look for when buying an Xbox 360 repair guide

1. A price of less than $40

2. Secure payment processing (PayPal etc)

3. A minimum 30-day money back guarantee.

4. High quality video and audio files.

5. Customer testimonials on the product information page.

By using a repair guide which fulfills all of the above criteria, your will be able to carry out your own Xbox 360 three red lights repair, in a small amount of time (around 1-2 hours) and using only basic tools.
